Who We Are and Why We Are Here…

There is a reason for our problems and it is found in the pages of the Bible, our true history. The solution to our problems is in the bible also, but before you get out of trouble, you must first know why you’re in trouble. The questions we all should ask are, what is our true nationality and why have all these terrible things happened to us? We are the Israelites (Jews) of the bible, which are black people and we are being punished because our ancestors failed to obey the commandments of God. “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statues which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee (Deuteronomy 28:15).

Many claim that it does not matter who the Israelites are since Jesus came and died but Jesus himself said, “salvation is of the Jews!” Even after the death and resurrection of Jesus, the apostle Paul asked the question,”What advantage then hath the Jew?” He knew the answer and said, “much every way” (Romans 3:1-2) It does matter who the Israelites (Jews) are because the Lord had the prophet tell us that Israel is the only people he has known, therefore he is punishing us for our sins. The Lord also knew that others would claim our land and heritage and he had the Apostle John write, “…I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not…” (Revelation 2:9). In short, all the prophets, apostles and Jesus himself were Israelites, and they all were black.

Almost everybody in the world knows that the true Egyptians are black people (Arabs rule Egypt now). Museums often exhibit many artifacts which prove this. As a matter of fact, Egypt is a slang name which simple means black. The original name was Mizraim. In the bible Mizraim and Cush (Ethiopia is slang for Cush and it means burnt face) were the two oldest sons of Ham. Of course, Ham was black, which has never been disputed. Now Moses, who was an Israelite, escaped death by posing as an Egyptian. Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, was trying to kill all the Israelite males, but let Moses live, thinking he was his grandson (Read Exodus Chapters 1&2). There is no way Moses could have passed as Pharaoh’s grandson, if they were not the same color, black.

Later, when pharaoh knew Moses’ true identity he tried to kill him, but Moses ran to another country, where he was again mistaken as an Egyptian. Some years before, Joseph’s (an Israelite) own brothers didn’t recognize him from other Egyptians. Over a thousand years later Paul was mistaken as an Egyptian (Read Acts 21:37-38). Although, Paul was commissioned to preach to the Gentiles (Europeans) he himself was an Israelite “For I also am an Israelite” (Romans 11:1), which means he too was black.

With all these facts in mind, many people would still try and separate Jesus from his people. Some have even said, Jesus didn’t have any color. Let us reason together, if Jesus was an Israelite of the tribe of Judah, then he looked like all the other Israelites. This is why when Judas was betraying Jesus he had to kiss him, to identify him from the other Israelites in the group. Jesus and his disciples all looked alike. Black! Even in his spiritual body which shined as bright (white like snow) as the sun, Jesus is described as being dark (brass burnt in a furnace) and having wooly hair (Read Revelation 1:14-15).

Let me add here, that we are not making a big deal out of color, but are simply identifying our ancestors. All people have forefathers and homelands that they can talk about and look upon with respect. This is true for black people also, except we have been cut off from our history.

Only God is wise enough, not only to cut a whole people off from their history, but also to keep a people on the bottom, as black people (Israelites) have been kept for so long. The old saying is true, if you don’t know where you came from you can’t know where you’re going. Many would like to blame others for our problems, but as we stated earlier, God himself is punishing us. This is why all our attempts to pull ourselves up have been thwarted. A few of us may excel but as a people we are on the bottom. If you believe otherwise, just consider the facts of; who lives in the projects, who is filling up the morgues with the highest mortality rate, who is a minority in population but the majority in prisons, who has the highest unemployment rate? This brings you back to the bottom to black people. “The stranger that is within thee shall get up above the very high; and thou shalt come down very low” (Deuteronomy 28:43). Here we are! “The stranger that is within thee” refers to other nationalities who were among our ancestors (Israel), when we were a flourishing nation.

God pronounced many other curses (Read Deuteronomy the 28th Chapter) upon the Israelites, by which he said you could recognize them, knowing they would lose their identity. “And they shall be upon thee for a sign…” (Deuteronomy 28:46). A sign indicates or identifies a person, place or thing. In this case we are talking about people. Now, let us look at a few more of the curses and see who they identify.

In Deuteronomy 28:25 , the Lord pronounced captivity (slavery) upon the Israelites, “…And shalt be removed into all the kingdoms on the earth” (Beware, many bibles, with exception of the King James, replace the word “removed” from the previous verse).

We are the only people that did not migrate to this country, or any other country, but were taken by force as slaves. Jesus spoke of this in Luke 21:24 saying, “and they shall fall by the edge of sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” This times (rulership) of the Gentiles (Europeans) will not be up, until the second coming of Jesus. Therefore, the true Israelites are still in captivity. Although most of this chapter in Luke is end time prophecy, Jesus here is referring to 70 A. D., when the Roman general Titus sacked Jerusalem. This was our last dispersion from our land and since then we have gone from nation to nation, from captivity to captivity. In the meantime our land, Israel, has been occupied by others.

Among these nations the Lord promised the Israelites a hard time and warned us that the sole of our foot would have no rest. He said, our very life would be in question and that we would be continually oppressed. “…and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways; and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled (robbed) evermore…” (Deuteronomy 28:29). With all the marching, rioting and civil rights laws passed, black people are still oppressed.

Many would try and add others to our predicament, making it a minority issue, but there is no people oppressed like black people. With all the problems other people faced none have suffered the atrocities of black people, taking a continual beating. What nation has had wives defiled, and built houses and worked fields for others, without payment? “Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her; thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein; thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof;” (Deuteronomy 28:30) . When you find the nation who had this happen to them, you have found Israel.

The things that have happened to us are not from man, but are a divine curse from God. Who else could be so accurate to punish one group of black people, among many groups of black people? The true Israelites are black people, but all black people are not Israelites. Just as all white people are not Italians. Nigerians are black, but they are not Israelites because they are Nigerians and know it. Other black nations still have their identity but God said he would cause the remembrance of Israel to cease from among men. If you think this has not come true, tell me who we are.

The true Israelites (black people) have been called by many names. This is also a sign of who we are. Deuteronomy 28:37 reads, “And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the Lord shall lead thee.” People are amazed (astonished) at our condition and they frame negative sayings (proverbs) concerning us and our predicament. A byword is merely a nickname of which we have had many. It seems like yesterday we were black, but I heard recently we were African Americans (Afro Americans), which we used to be, after we were something else. Confusing huh?

It is not enough to say we are from Africa because Africa is a big continent. The Ethiopian is from Africa but he knows where he is from, in Africa. All the European Americans have a homeland upon the continent of Europe (Germans from Germany, Russians from Russia, French from France, etc.). Nevertheless, the true Israelites do not know where they are from and neither do they consider, “The ox knoweth his owner and the ass his master’s crib, but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider” (Isaiah 1:3).

The God of Israel, allowed many nations to conspire to cut his people off from their history and he even had king David to write about it before it happened. “They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, come, and let us cut them off from being a nation. That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent; they are confederate against thee” (Psalm 83:3-5). When this was written, Israel was still a nation, in their own land, under their own King, David.

The prophet Joel saw the future also, when he wrote about the going home of Israel. He wrote that the Lord will gather Israel and repay the nations who scattered us and divided our land among themselves (Joel 3:1-8) . Verse 3 says, “and they have cast lots for my people, and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.” Any reputable history book will inform you of the bidding (casting lots) for Blacks (Israelites) at the auction blocks. Verse 6 says, “the children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.” Here we are!

What has befallen us the true Israelites, is written all over the bible. Things like stocking up the prisons (which blacks do, as fast as they are built). “But this is a people robbed and spoiled, they are all of them snared in holes, and hid in prison houses…” (Isaiah 42:22). I won’t bore you with the many statistics of our incarceration rate but it is not to be compared with any other people.

These are some of our problems that many people talk about, but who asks the question why? Well, we have already told you that all these curses have come upon Israel because our forefathers did not keep the commandments of God. And even with all the punishment we have received, we still refuse to keep God’s commandments.

Our only answer is in the Bible. “And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath driven thee, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; That then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither thy Lord thy God hath scattered thee” (Deuteronomy 30:1-3). Disobeying the commandments of God got us in trouble and obeying the commandments will get us out of trouble.
